Format: In-Person | Two-Day Certification Course

Join us for a valuable two-day certification course sponsored by URSTA. The training is designed to help transportation professionals provide safer, more accessible, and more customer-focused service.

TRAINING INFORMATION
This PASS Driver Certification is a two-day, in-person classroom training conducted by a current, certified CTAA PASS Trainer.

• Day 1: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM — Sensitivity Skills Training

• Day 2: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM — Wheelchair Securement Training & Written Test

• Both days include an on-your-own lunch break.

 On Day 2, the instructor will demonstrate proper wheelchair securement procedures. Attendees will then be required to demonstrate the procedures and complete a 50-question written test. The trainer will submit completed tests to the CTAA office for grading and validation. Attendees who successfully complete the required training and pass the written test will receive a certificate of completion.

WHY PASS CERTIFICATION
The Passenger Assistance, Safety & Sensitivity (PASS) Certification is an industry-standard training program for transportation professionals serving older adults and individuals with disabilities. This nationally recognized certification provides drivers and transportation staff with practical skills and confidence to deliver safe, respectful, and responsive passenger assistance.

Participants Will Learn How To:

• Strengthen passenger assistance and mobility device securement skills

• Understand ADA requirements and accessibility best practices

• Improve safety awareness and risk-reduction techniques

• Better serve passengers with diverse mobility, cognitive, and sensory needs

• Enhance customer service, communication, and sensitivity skills

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
URSTA is proud to welcome Utah’s own Kevin Lake as the PASS instructor! Kevin brings 20+ years of paratransit experience and 30 years of customer service experience. His background includes employee training, safety, compliance, and transportation operations. He brings valuable real-world knowledge and experience to the PASS classroom.

URSTA Scholarship Information

URSTA scholarships are available as funds allow to eligible providers attending this training. Scholarships may include reimbursement for lodging, meal per diem, the $55 certification fee, and applicable training fees.

• To be eligible for a URSTA scholarship, the provider must: Be a current URSTA member; and serve rural areas of Utah.

 Hotel reimbursement: Eligible providers who travel more than 60 miles to attend the training may receive reimbursement for lodging. Approved reimbursements will be issued after the training upon submission of the required documentation. day. Only 22 spots are available for this training, please register and reserve your hotel prior to October 30th.
