PROCUREMENT TRAINING

URSTA is hosting a one-day FTA procurement training on June 15, 2023 from 9 AM to 5 PM. The meeting will be held in the Redwood B conference room on the first floor of the Calvin Rampton building ("The Complex") at the UDOT Learning Center located at 4501 South 2700 West, Salt Lake City. Lunch will be provided the day of the event.

Please register by May 31st to attend this event.  For those traveling more than 50 miles, you may book a hotel room at a location of your choosing and will be reimbursed for dinner on the evening of June 15th. Please note, URSTA will only reimburse your meal and hotel stay at the state per diem rates, so be aware when making your reservations. State travel rates and information can be found in the attached documents. When looking for a hotel stay, there are several options in West Valley City near the Valley Fair Mall, which is in close proximity to the training. Please keep all hotel and meal receipts for reimbursement.

This training will provide a detailed overview of FTA procurement compliance as well as the recently updated UDOT Procurement Guide. The training is recommended for all agencies who complete their own procurement (with UDOT oversight responsibilities); however, the training will provide a deeper understanding of requirements that UDOT has for smaller agencies throughout the state. The training will be provided by Rich Garrity at RLS and Associates.

Rich has over 44 years of experience in transit and paratransit planning, operations, and management evaluation, coordinated transportation services, policy development, and state DOT program management, over 24 of that with RLS. Mr. Garrity, Director of Compliance Initiatives, is RLS’ resident expert on all things related to financial management and cost allocation, regulatory compliance, and performance reviews; transit demand forecasting; procurement; technology application for human service and transit operations; grants management; budget development; funds management; contracting; transit facilities planning; and privatization.
