PASS Train-the-Trainer Certification

CTAA’s Passenger Assistance, Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) train-the trainer program is the recognized industry standard when it comes to ensuring that your passengers are transported in the most safe, sensitive and careful manner possible. PASS is ideal for non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) trips, for ADA paratransit services, for specialized transit for older passengers, for human and social service riders — really any transportation operation where the passengers require extra care. PASS trained drivers know how to safely and sensitively transport everyone.

The Train-the-Trainer program combines a deep dive into PASS and training best practices. URSTA’s desire is to build a core group that provides value to their agencies but may be willing to train others in their region. Although providing trainings and certifying individuals outside their agency is not required, URSTA hopes that there is a desire amongst some individuals and agencies to participate at URSTA conferences or on an as needed basis. The Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) Trainer Certification program ensures that community transportation drivers have current expertise in passenger assistance techniques and sensitivity skills appropriate for serving persons with disabilities.

Some of the advantages of offering the PASS certification program is the ability to reduce organizational liability; comprehensive, up-to-date training on the assistance drivers should be providing to passengers with special needs; intensive emergency situation training; certification oversight provided by national leaders in the community transportation field; and updates for all participants on relevant regulatory changes.
